Dr. Frances Cress Welsing is against legalizing cannabis

Dr. Welsing, the respected counter-racist activist recently appeared on The COWS and was asked her views on efforts to legalize cannabis in the context of white supremacy. As a person who spent 6 years researching the Drug War, talking to many professionals in the criminal justice system about the subject, and being aware of the propaganda that is being pushed to keep the Drug War in place, I was very disappointed at what she said on the matter. Global 21st Century Slavery and Human Trafficking is one of the most pressing if not the top issue facing Black people and non-white people today.

Predictably, the usual racially showcased suspects were out over the weekend organizing and participating in rallies across the country related to the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Al Sharpton in particular said that the demonstrations were about repealing Stand Your Ground laws across the nation. I decided to do some research and wrote a piece today which exposes this Stand Your Ground rhetoric as a manufactured racial issue that will be used to get Black people to vote for Democrats in the coming 2014 national elections. The research shows that racist white people with guns shooting down Black people and getting away with it is not a widespread occurrence.

Finally, Dr. Cornell West was on Democracy Now and he was not pleased with the President of the United States talking about racial profiling and called him the Global George Zimmerman. There are several things to discuss about this, which include asking if West is right in his assessment and just wrong in his delivery and if Black people are politically mature enough to handle politics with all the tricks being used by the most powerful racists on the planet.
