Author, community activist and former Black Panther Aaron Dixon

Today on the Live Drive @ 5 we will be joined by civil and human rights activist, former Green Party Senate Candidate and author Aaron Dixon who chronicled his time as a member and captain in the Seattle chapter of the Black Panther Party in the 2012 book My People Are Rising: Memoir of a Black Panther Party Captain. Mr. Dixon marched with Martin Luther King Jr to end housing discrimination as a young man and later he would start a free breakfast program for school children, a free medical clinic and a legal clinic through his work with the Panthers. While The Seattle Black Panther Party has been long gone as the party itself fell victim to the FBI's illegal war on the Black community specifically the Black Panthers, the free services Dixon helped start are still in existence.

When Black people front for white supremacy w/ Robert Perkins

Today we will welcome Mr. Robert Perkins to the Live Drive @ 5 who is the star of the Youtube channel DaREVOLUTIONARYWitDaTattoos. Mr Perkins recently posted a passionate critique of comments made about Black men and dread locks by celebrity Black actor Anthony Mackie. Mackie has since tried to further explain his comments to his nephew that all the criminals he sees on "First 48" have dreadlocks in trying to dissuade his nephew from growing locks. Mackie also blamed a Grio reporter for taking him out of context but the Grio says they did not and posted the full interview of the "Black or White" actor in the latest Kevin Costner film.

The link between criminal records and poverty w/ Christopher Ervin

Today on the Live Drive @ 5 we will be speaking to Baltimore criminal justice activist and radio personality Christopher Ervin about criminal records and expungements exploring the process and exposing the link to poverty. With a criminal justice system that targets non-white people as seen in the glaring disparities in police stops and arrests, criminal records provide just another tool to practice economic racism. We will also discuss the possible real reasons as to why a rich and successful white male like Mark Wahlberg is seeking to have his violent hate crime convictions expunged by way of a pardon. Black's Law Dictionary defines "expungement of record" as the "Process by which record of criminal conviction is destroyed or sealed from the state or Federal repository."

Letters To Trayvon & Klansville, USA review

Today on the Live Drive @ 5 we will be joined by Lawanda Horton of the media campaign Letters To Trayvon. Letters To Trayvon is a social media campaign designed to flood the internet with positive images of Black men and boys, articles, quotes, poetry, and music that speaks to the challenges and triumphs of Black men and boys. Begins Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. (the time Trayvon was pronounced dead), via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The campaign ends Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.

After we speak with Sis. Horton, I want to delve into what I discovered about the PBS film documentary Klansville, USA. If you have not read my article on the film and how I feet about it then please do and feel free to call in and share your thoughts. Do you think this film purposely left out an important piece of the puzzle as it relates to Klan violence or lack thereof in North Carolina or am I just being a paranoid Black person seeing anti-black conspiracies in media?
