The 1st District Court of Appeals in Tallahassee Florida has thrown out a Jacksonville judge’s order that limited the amount of case related materials that can be released to the public in the high-profile murder trial of Michael Dunn, the 47 year old white male who opened fire on a SUV with several black unarmed teenagers at a gas station. Jacksonville teen Jordan Davis was killed while sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.
In a unanimous ruling, the appellate court said Judge Russell Healey could not delay records from becoming public after the prosecution hands them over to the Dunn's defense attorney in the first-degree murder trial. Florida newspapers have in past month published Dunn's letters from a Jacksonville jail, where he made derogatory comments about black people and expressed hopes in getting the venue changed to a "Republican" dominated county where he could increase his chances of getting a sympathetic jury.

Retired Maryland Police Major Neil Franklin, the current executive director for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition penned an op-ed piece printed in the Star Democrat called for the End of Prohibition…Again.
Franklin says, “Ninety years ago, brewing, transporting and selling alcohol were all federal crimes. The prohibition of alcohol was repealed in 1933 because it supported large criminal organizations through the inflated prices of unregulated, illegal booze and because it disproportionately harmed the lower and middle classes. Today we still have prohibition, its largest benefactors are still international criminal gangs, and its victims are still mostly the poor and middle-class. Last night I heard someone who says that they are a Black person state on a radio program that cannabis legalization could perhaps lead to more Black people being arrested and terrorized because under white supremacy, they have separate rules for black people and separate rules for white people.
Lets not get it twisted; the drug war is not the root cause of the mass incarceration/re-enslavement of Black and Brown people. White Supremacy and a slave based prison economy is the root cause of it. The Drug war, specifically, the criminalization of the cannabis plant is just a tool the system uses to achieve its goal. Logic dictates that the fewer tools your enemy has to use against you the better off you will be and we will be as a people. Common sense is not common but let us not try to make sense of the illogical.
